Two mothers

You were like
Two mothers
Protecting me
Your breast plates of love
Shining
Like branding irons
I was
Covered over
By a nightingale in ivy
You hid me like a baby
From
The Egyptian lord of death
You
Were an army
Against the night
You were
Like two
Protective mothers
You held out your hands into the darkness
Into the dream-river-stream
You could separate
Life from death
You had the strength
Of an angel
There was healing power
There was sleep
