A Little Girl Called Nadine Brook

A little girl called Nadine Brook
Would go collecting flowers
And pressed in her nature book
She would look at them for hours

With buttercups and daisies fair
But nothing really exciting
Although she searched everywhere
The wild flowers were not biting

Then Hurricane Black Bart
Thundered cross the world
Like giant grey rose
Into her garden whirled

And when she saw it did she begin to sing?
And slipping outside she grabbed it by the tail
And squashed it like a bedspring in her book
And promptly secured it with a nail

“Have you seen Hurricane Bart”
The headlines read next day
While the county police force
Suspected foul play

The world sighed with relief
The weatherman warned, “Beware”
“It could pop up from its hiding place
Just like a grizzly bear”

Weathermen couldn’t understand
As they searched east and west
How a hurricane could vanish
Is anybody’s guess

But like a grey rose pressed
Between the pages of a book
It was the most exciting find
For little Nadine Brook
