Dear Angel

Dear angel
Voluntary worker
Where are you taking that throne?
He sets it down
Into the light as bright and as dense as snow

Dear volunteer
In the dusty community hall
Where are you taking that chair?
He sets it down
And goes to get another

Only one of the eagles
The greatest of all the eagles
Ever flew to the top
Of the highest mountain

It stood and it spread its wings wide
Against the brilliant shining sun
The whole of humanity in that day
Felt as though something had changed in their lives
