Afghanistan girl

Afghanistan girl
Is dancing where nobody can see her
Afghanistan girl
Is beautiful, just as the Lord God made her

Her mother Eve left her a note
Always keep a songbird under your coat
Her father Adam said in his will
May all of my daughters keep dancing still
Keep dancing still

Look at the desert and all of that heat
But the flowers are growing under her dancing feet
look at the mountains so statuesque and cold
And look at the cities all covered in mould

Afghanistan girl is dancing
With vines on the ends of her fingers
And where her breath sweetens the air
Flocks of songbirds linger

Well, I know it all seems surreal
Or maybe it is truely real
That Afghanistan girl is dancing
And dances just how she feels

Somewhere between nature
And the way that God made us
Lies our truth
