Fade to rose

Families with no energy
Fade to rose
Too many misfortunes to cope with
See how they die

Families with no energy
The gate post guns in the moonlight
empty like the freezer

families with no energy
half-way to university
they are peeling away the fish scales
they didn’t expect to see blood

families with no energy
fuse-bombed storm-bins
out in the torrential rain
they pull the voices out of their children’s dolls
and ride on crashing trains

families with no energy
no love given, no love lost
drifting like tumbleweed
through the vacant parking lot
with social checks like toilet paper
and marriages that just rot
