3 a.m., Bear Grylls is on the TV
It is a desert somewhere
With a scorpion and a Cobras
Making a special appearance
He points to the Atlas Mountains
He bends down a branch of the Acacia tree
The spikes of the desert
As sharp as the sun
He finds some ancient picture
Drawn onto flat stones and he marvels at them
He visits the Barbers and talks of survival
Of Journeys and trails across the sand
4 a.m.
The story ends suddenly
Cut short
By the credits
The survival story will continue
Into a second episode
That slides into eternal darkness
My own survival continues
Amongst the silk lights of office blocks
And the white painted rooms
Of Limehouse
