There goes Betsy

There goes Betsy
Betsy from Hong Kong
She’s here to see her daughter
She won’t be here or long
Not very long

She told me that she teaches
She teaches in Hong Kong
And how she missed her daughter
And something seems so wrong
Seems so wrong

Her daughter she says is lazy
She lets the garden grow
She doesn’t plant or water
Or prune the big hedgerow

So her mother did it for her
Cut it all right back
Now has she time for planting
Before she must go back

She says she’ll plant Hydrangea’s
It’s a beautiful idea
A garden full of Hydrangea
It’s a beautiful
A beautiful idea

The ground is racked and ready
And waiting to begin
She still has some summer left
I hope that she can win
That she can win
