The name of love

The name of love was a lost name
Lost on the wave of the ocean
The name of love was everlasting
Burning like fire in a mist-cloud
You breathed a breath of life
And the cloud blew away
I looked into your eyes
And love came my way

The name of love was energy
Covered by clouds of a dark time
The name of love inspired dreams
That came to life like wings of fire
Your tears filled the countryside like rain
Your laughter filled the woodlands like the sun
All I know is I had no pain
That loving you was love and love was fun

You smiled your smile
You moved your moves
You danced your dance
In your little shoes

Though my heart was broken in two
It began to mend when I met you

The name of love

When I met you

The name of love

Beware the ebullient souls

Beware the ebullient souls saying
“We’re glad you came, welcome, we’ll call you” but they never do.
Look behind you, they’ve gone haven’t they,
As if they never even existed and I think . . . .

Good friends, someone to talk to –
They seemed to understand! We seemed to have things in common! Wrong!
They let you down; their phone was off the hook.
It was a subtle condescension, a sweet lie.

I shattered the light

I shattered the light and there I saw her
– long hair like a waterfall.

I shattered the night and there – looked for her,
for long, long years I called.

and like a schoolboy from the lower grade
I searched the classrooms in your heart
like a bird from the frozen grave
I flew, but then it fell apart, within me.

I shattered the light and there I saw her
– long hair like a waterfall.

I shattered the night and there searched everywhere
along the endless ruined wall.

Song: Alone in What You Feel

Alone in what you feel

PDF Alone in what you feel

Please see the audio and lead sheet of this song if you wish.

This is the poem I wrote. I thought it might be an interesting song. It struggled with it, the main problems were with verses 4 and five. Verse 4 became a middle eight and verse 5 a somewhat variation on verse 1. A favorite Russian Poet Marina Tsveteava (speeliing mine) seemed to think there are in life, non people, who have no heart. She should know, she was driven to suicide by poverty and heartbreak by the communists of her time.

Poem: Alone in what you feel

Alone in what you feel
It’s the third meal of the day
Maybe take a drink
You can sing, you can pray
Alone anyway

Some do not see feelings
As worthy of respect
With the strength of Hercules
They make a point to reject
How you bleed

Alone in what you feel
It’s the first hill to climb
But your mind can’t reach the top
To see what’s left behind
Alone anyway

Talking with psychology
Really isn’t the same
As taking pain to task
Her multiplication tables
Will answer before you even ask
How you bleed

Alone in what you feel
Why is the whole world seen
Through the lens of a shattered dream
And making love is purely mechanical
Alone anyway

Asylum wind

Asylum Wind lyrics:

Verse 1

Everywhere is quiet across the hinterland
The night horse it gallops – thru the dark expanse
While I’m walking homeward I see the moon rescind
The shadows go ahead of me in the asylum wind

Chorus

Asylum wind engraves, every word you said
The asylum wind is burning, holes inside my head

Verse 2

This day is behind me , a long night’s ahead
Animal confusion crying in my head
If I loved you longer, it would be a sin
The shadows go in front of me in the asylum wind

Chorus and verse 3

Time is but a measure, fading in the sky
Space is but a dream that died and a place to hide
Love is written in blood that will not end
Flying on wings of fury in asylum wind

Chorus
